Veins are critical to plant success
The vascular tissue of plants perform 2 main functions. First, they transport water and sugars as well as other nutrients and some hormones. Secondly, they provide structural support. We are interested in understanding the cellular and molecular processes which determine the pattern or vascular tissue in different organs, focusing especially on leaf vein pattern.

Our focus
We have used genetic screens to identify genes important in leaf vein pattern formation. Using cellular and molecular biology tools, we are elucidating the function of these and related genes.
